Polymarket MetaMask and Coinbase: how to connect your wallet and deposit
Polymarket lets you sign in with email, Google or a wallet such as MetaMask. See the deposit options, how Polygon fits in and how to spot fake sites.

Yes, you can use Polymarket with MetaMask. At sign-up the platform lets you log in with email, with Google or by connecting a crypto wallet, and Polymarket’s own help center names MetaMask as an example. To fund the account, the deposit screen offers a crypto transfer, plus a Coinbase option and a card option. Whatever route you pick, the balance ends up as pUSD on Polygon. What changes from one route to another is who holds your keys and who charges you fees.
The short version
- Three ways in: Google, email with a 6-digit code, or a crypto wallet (the help center lists MetaMask, Rabby and Phantom as examples).
- Connecting a wallet takes two signatures: one to connect and one to “Enable Trading”.
- Polymarket charges nothing to deposit or withdraw. Intermediaries such as Coinbase or MoonPay may charge their own fees.
- Your seed phrase and your login code are never shared with anyone. If someone asks for them, be suspicious.
Polymarket with MetaMask: your two options
1. Connect your MetaMask wallet to Polymarket. This is the route in the official sign-up guide: you choose to connect a wallet, sign two messages, and from then on you log in with that same wallet. The account is tied to the wallet you created it with.
2. Use the predictions feature inside MetaMask. MetaMask has its own predictions section and, according to its support page, Polymarket is the provider behind it. You can pay with any EVM token, and MetaMask creates a Polymarket account the first time you trade or deposit. Check inside the app whether the feature is available where you live.
How to connect a wallet to Polymarket
- Open only a site you typed into the address bar yourself (more on why below).
- Choose sign up or log in, then pick the wallet option.
- Select MetaMask or another supported wallet and approve the connection in its window.
- Sign the first message (connect) and the second one (enable trading).
Button names can change. The principle does not: read what you are signing before you approve it.
Wallet login or email
With a wallet, what you must protect is your seed phrase; with email or Google, it is your inbox and the codes you receive. Email-login accounts do not appear in MetaMask.
Polymarket describes itself as non-custodial: it never takes possession of your USDC, and you can export your private key at any time, per its safety article. That gives you control, and it also gives you all the responsibility. The technical docs also describe several wallet types: accounts deployed on or after May 4, 2026 use a “Deposit Wallet”, while older ones may be Proxy or Safe wallets.
Polymarket and Coinbase: how it works
The deposit screen includes an option to connect Coinbase. Polymarket does not charge to deposit, but its fees article notes that intermediaries like Coinbase or MoonPay may charge their own fees. Check the total you are shown before you confirm.
Coinbase can also simply be your exchange: you buy USDC there and send it by crypto transfer to your deposit address, like any other exchange.
How to deposit on Polymarket from a wallet
Depositing from MetaMask is a normal crypto transfer. The bridge documentation explains that each account gets its own deposit addresses by network type (EVM, Solana, Bitcoin or Tron). What you send is converted to pUSD and credited to your account.
- Click Deposit and choose the transfer method.
- Pick the token and the network.
- Copy the address shown in your profile, not one from a message or another website.
- In MetaMask, select the same network and send an amount above the minimum.
- When the transaction confirms, refresh the page.
The help center recommends testing with a small amount first. On minimums, the help center and the technical docs give different examples, so we do not quote a figure: use the one the deposit screen shows. A deposit below the minimum stays pending until the total reaches the required amount.
Polygon and pUSD: what to know
Polymarket uses pUSD on Polygon as collateral for trading. You can deposit USDC or USDC.e and it is converted automatically. Sending on Polygon is the most direct route, but the platform accepts other networks too. The address must match the network you selected: an EVM address does not work for Solana, Bitcoin or Tron.
Wallet or exchange
If your funds are already on-chain, you deposit from the wallet and only pay the network fee. If you start from local currency, the usual route is to buy USDC on an exchange and withdraw it; the step-by-step is in how to deposit on Polymarket.
Risks of using a wallet with Polymarket
Seed phrase and private keys
MetaMask is blunt about it: never share your recovery phrase or private keys, and not even its own team will ask for them. If a “bonus”, a “claim” page or a supposed support agent asks for your seed phrase, treat it as a red flag.
Login codes
If you log in with email, Polymarket’s help center warns you never to share the 6-digit code, not even with its staff, and says support cannot recover funds lost that way.
Fake sites and messages
Scam campaigns imitate Polymarket: cloned sites with fake token or bonus “claims” that ask you to connect your wallet, as PCrisk describes. Type the address yourself, distrust links that arrive by email or social media and do not sign anything you were not expecting. If your deposit does not show up
Check the transaction on a block explorer, confirm the token, network and minimum, then refresh or log out and back in. According to the official help article, if 10 minutes pass and the transaction is confirmed on-chain but missing from your balance, contact support with the transaction hash. The step-by-step version is in Polymarket deposit not showing up.
Withdrawing to your wallet or an exchange
Polymarket charges nothing to withdraw. A withdrawal converts pUSD to USDC and sends it to the network and token you choose; the details are in how to withdraw from Polymarket.
First, confirm that Polymarket works where you live: where Polymarket is legal has the summary, and the markets board shows what is being traded.
