Since June 2024, you can buy crypto through your bank
Until 2024, buying crypto through bank channels was banned in Bolivia. Board Resolution 082/2024 of the Banco Central de Bolivia (BCB), dated 25 June 2024, lifted that 2020 ban and opened electronic payment instruments to the purchase and sale of virtual assets. The BCB stressed that the boliviano remains the only legal currency and that users carry the risks themselves.
The effect showed up fast: by the BCB's own figures, average monthly volume rose from 7.6 to 15.6 million dollars in the following three months, mostly in stablecoins.
Bolivianos to USDC on Binance
Binance is the main route. Among P2P sellers of USDC for bolivianos on 25 October 2026, most were paid through Banco Ganadero, Banco Económico, Banco Unión and Banco de Crédito, with a few using Banco Nacional de Bolivia, Banco FIE and SoliPagos. Check each offer's price: with thin supply, the gap between sellers can be wide.
Where the gaming authority stands
The Autoridad de Fiscalización del Juego (AJ) enforces Law 060 on lotteries and games of chance. In 2023 its director said online gambling needs an AJ licence and that sports betting is prohibited; that year it suspended 27 betting and casino sites together with the state internet agency ADSIB. The AJ has said nothing about Polymarket, whose Bolivian markets include the professional league and whether President Rodrigo Paz stays in office.
