The gaming regulator and the online betting bill
Chile's casino regulator, the Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego (SCJ), holds that under current law the commercial operation of online betting platforms is not authorised, and that it has no power to supervise them until the bill that would regulate them (Bulletin 14.838-03) is passed. The bill has spent years in Congress; a technical working group with the government was set up in September 2026, and by mid-October it was still pending.
None of this mentions prediction markets. The SCJ has said nothing about Polymarket, and whether the new law will end up covering it is something nobody can state today.
The CMF and the exchanges
On the financial side, Law 21.521, known as the Fintec Law, created a register of financial service providers run by the Comisión para el Mercado Financiero (CMF). It is worth looking an exchange up in that register before opening an account.
