How to deposit from Ecuador
The short route: get USDC with USD on Binance or OKX (directly or by converting USDT, depending on what is offered locally) and send it over the Polygon network to your Polymarket deposit address, found under Deposit → crypto transfer. Polymarket charges nothing to deposit or withdraw; what you pay is the exchange fee and the currency conversion.
The full step-by-step, with the most common mistakes, is in how to deposit on Polymarket.

No currency conversion: Ecuador already uses dollars
Ecuador has an edge over the rest of the region. Its currency is the US dollar, so buying USDC involves no exchange rate, only whatever spread the seller charges. On Binance P2P, sellers of digital dollars who accept Ecuadorian banks were using Banco Pichincha, Produbanco, Banco Guayaquil, Banco del Pacífico, Banco Bolivariano and the Deuna wallet in October 2026. OKX is the other common route.
What the central bank has said about crypto
On 12 August 2024 the Banco Central del Ecuador (BCE) restated that crypto assets are neither legal tender nor an authorised means of payment, and that using them to pay for things is prohibited under the Monetary and Financial Code. Ten days later its general manager, Guillermo Avellán, clarified that the bank has not banned investing in crypto, since that is outside its powers, and called for a law to regulate such investment. That law does not exist yet.
The SRI regime for sports betting operators
Since 1 July 2024, sports betting operators must register with the tax authority (SRI) and pay a flat 15% income tax. According to the SRI, players' winnings are also taxed at 15%, with the operator doing the withholding. If you trade on Polymarket, how to report any gains is a question for your accountant.
On the sports side, Polymarket runs markets on the LigaPro champion and on which country will stage the next Copa América, in 2028.
