Polymarket in Brazil: is it blocked? Status in 2026
Close-only
Brazil is in close-only mode on Polymarket's official list.
How Polymarket treats accounts in Brazil
Brazil is on Polymarket's official geoblocking list in the regulatory restrictions group, with close-only mode on both the website and the API. Anyone who already held positions can close them, but the platform rejects new orders coming from a blocked region.
Brazil shares this category with large markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia and four Canadian provinces (British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta and Quebec). In South America, only Brazil and Venezuela are on the list.
Who restricts it and what the sources say
The restriction comes from Polymarket. The sources cited on this page show no court order and no Brazilian regulator behind it, and the official documentation does not explain why each country is included, so we do not attribute the measure to any specific Brazilian law. Nor do the sources mention penalties for users.
The difference from a full block matters. In countries under OFAC sanctions, such as Cuba or Iran, you cannot even close a position. In Brazil you can: positions opened before the restriction can be closed, even though new trades cannot be placed.
How to keep track
Polymarket identifies the country from the IP address of each request and points anyone who thinks they were restricted by mistake to its support team. While Brazil remains on the list, this site shows no sign-up links to visitors from Brazil.
If Polymarket takes Brazil out of the close-only group, this page will show it with the date of the change and the official source.
