How to read this page

Each row is an open Polymarket market related to this event. The big number is the probability the market assigns today to the leading outcome: it is the contract price, not a poll. The bar shows the Yes/No split and the line, the price over the last 7 days. Data comes from Polymarket's public API and refreshes every few minutes.

A market on a vote, not a match

The Ballon d'Or is not decided on the pitch but by a jury of journalists, and the winner is revealed at a gala. That changes how the price behaves. It does not react to a live goal; it reacts to the nominee list, to performances in the season's finals and to rumours about the result ahead of the ceremony. When a supposed leak circulates, the price can jump within minutes and fall back just as fast if the rumour turns out to be false.

Winner, podium and head-to-heads read differently

The winner market has one contract per player. Podium markets ask whether someone finishes in the top three, and head-to-heads pit two candidates against each other: the one ranked higher wins, even if neither lifts the trophy. A player can be cheap to win and expensive to make the podium with no contradiction at all.

Names at 1% or 2% attract people chasing a big payout, but those contracts often have few orders and a wide gap between bid and ask. The percentage you see may not match what you would pay to buy right now.

How it resolves

Once the winner is announced, someone proposes the outcome to UMA's oracle with a bond and a two-hour dispute window opens. Podium and head-to-head markets depend on the full official ranking; if it comes out later than the winner's name, those markets can take longer to settle. Because the sports fee (0.05) is multiplied by price × (1 − price), 100 shares of a contract at 0.02 pay 0.098 USDC.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as a bookmaker?

No. On Polymarket you buy and sell contracts with other people, you can exit before the tournament ends, and the price reflects the probability the market assigns, not odds set by the house.

Do these markets charge fees?

Yes. Sports markets have a 0.05 taker rate under the official table. If you place a limit order and wait, you pay nothing.

How often is this page updated?

Prices refresh every few minutes from Polymarket's public API. The text is reviewed weekly.
